Bet On MLB Baseball – Tigers Try To Cool Off Hot Sabathia

Those who bet on the Kentucky Derby know that every stable needs a leading thoroughbred, and in the New York Yankees’ starting rotation, C.C. Sabathis is, far and away, the horse that leads the way in the Bronx. He has won two in a roll, but his performances this season have been on the side of superb, including in the season opener against Detroit at home. The Tigers will look to get to Sabathia when the Yankees come to Detroit on Tuesday night.

Yankees Tigers Betting – Tuesday, 7:05 PM ET

Sabathia (2-1, 2.25) allowed three runs, but none were earned in a 12-3 romp over Chicago at home, scattering seven hits over seven innings with six strikeouts and a walk. Sabathia has been getting some great run support as the Yankees have scored 27 runs for him over his last two starts, and if he gets a lead, those who bet on MLB baseball know you’re as good as done against the big lefty, who has given up more than three runs only one in six starts this season. The 30-year-old is 15-11 in 31 starts against the Tigers, posting a 4.52 ERA, and he’s 7-4 in 13 appearances at Comerica Park with a 4.24 ERA.

The Tigers will counter with Brad Penny (1-3, 6.11), who was knocked for four runs on nine hits in a 7-2 win at home against Seattle. Penny went seven innings to take some pressure off the Detroit bullpen, and he wasn’t that bad against the Mariners, the problem is, he wasn’t great either, especially after a one-hit performance in his last outing against Chicago. The 32-year-old righty has struggled against the Yankees, going 1-2 in four starts with an 8.84 ERA, and in his first appearance at the new Yankee Stadium in that season-opening series, Penny was pounded for eight runs on seven hits in just 4.1 innings in a 10-6 loss.

Your pay per head sportsbook will have the Yankees as a favorite on the road, and heading into Monday’s series opener, they had split their last 10 trips to Detroit with six going under the posted total. Sabathia has been getting a ton of run support, obviously, but that doesn’t discount the fact that he’s one of the top three pitchers in the American League and probably top five in all of baseball. Penny has been having troubles finding the strike zone (19 strikeouts to 15 walks), and the Yankee bats have been rolling, especially with Sabathia on the mound. Sabathia is used to playing in Detroit from his time in Cleveland and obviously his time in New York, so look for him to have a strong performance. Lay a sports bet on New York on Tuesday.
