Heat Turning Criticism In To Motivation For Coming Season

After one of the most highly anticipated offseasons in the history of online sports betting, training camps opened around the NBA this week, with several teams looking nothing close to the way that finished last season. Sports fans could have spent the summer living under a rock, and still realize that the biggest change came in South Beach, where the Miami Heat added a pair of superstars to an already playoff-worthy roster. Dwayne Wade managed to convince his friends and American teammates to make the trip to the sunny shorelines of Miami beach, where the most dynamic trio now resides. Lebron James was able to carry a Cleveland Cavaliers’ team built around him to the NBA championship game and a couple of league titles, while Chris Bosh was considered the franchise player of a Toronto Raptors’ club that perennially underachieved. Now, both men will move in to supporting roles under arguably the best player in the league in Wade, who is the only one of the three who has won an NBA championship before.

According to US Sportsbook reviews, the Heat were considered a favorite in the Eastern conference the day that James signed with the club. With Bosh already under contract, the signing of “The King” signaled the elevation of Miami to among the best teams in the conference, while all but officially eliminating the Cleveland Cavaliers as a potential playoff team. James and Bosh were able to bring some of their contacts down that way, with center Zydrunas Ilguaskas signing on, as well as guard Mike Miller also inking a contract. As the roster continued to fill out, the Heat continued to become more highly regarded as a team with the potential to do big things over the next couple of years, a sentiment that has echoed through the league as training camps have opened.

With the betting on NFL season already well underway, the focus will shift to the NBA in the coming weeks, and the approaching regular season. The Heat are already making headlines now, as the big three did a betting interview this week in accordance with the opening of their camp. James told the public that the criticism his teammates and him have received for their decision to come together as a mega power is undeserved, and is more the result of envy than it is hate. Wade reiterated his thoughts when he mentioned that he expected to be booed when the team traveled to different betting arenas, but that those sentiments would be used as motivation rather than hindering their performance. Miami is already talented enough to rank among the best teams in the association this season, but with even more motivation to shut down their critics, the Heat have plans to do more than just win regular season games. Miami will not only be a contender this year, they will be the biggest factor in the end of the Los Angeles Lakers’ dominance over the past couple of seasons.

Pressure On Price Entering Second Preseason Home Start

When the Montreal Canadiens take to the ice Monday night against the Florida Panthers, the spotlight will once again be on their netminder, with the pressure of a hockey-mad betting city focused squarely on his shoulders. At just 23-years old, Carey Price has been considered both the present and the future for a franchise looking to restore its once proud ways, and although he has not lived up to expectations so far, the Canadiens’ management remains optimistic that he will produce.

Montreal management solidified their commitment to the Memorial Cup winner when they traded Jaroslav Halak to the St. Louis Blues in the offseason for a couple of prospects. The decision was made in spite of Halak’s brilliant play in place of Price, after the former took over the starting job to lead the Canadiens in to the playoffs, and all the way to the Eastern conference finals. The Slovakian became the story of the postseason, making save after save to help Montreal shut down two of the most explosive offenses in the league, including the Presidents trophy-winning Washington Capitals, and the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. From Alex Ovechkin and Alex Semin, to Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, Halak stood on his head and won over Habs’ fans with his brilliant sportsbook promo play. Now, Halak has been traded, and the keys to the Canadiens’ playoff ambitions have been handed back to Price.

The B.C.-native came in to the league on fire, fresh off an AHL championship and gold medal with Canada’s junior team, but struggled after his first season and has nearly fallen off the map since. Although Price has not had the benefit of solid play in front of him the way Halak did for most of the team’s playoff run last year, he will have to do better than he has this preseason, where he has struggled immensely. Price was booed and jeered after allowing suspect goals in an opening loss to the rival Boston Bruins, and then unraveled in his last start against the Ottawa Senators after a solid start. The Canadiens’ goaltender had played a solid 35 minutes while allowing only one goal, before allowing the Senators to explode for three straight before the second intermission, en route to a 6-2 loss. The meltdown included a terrible goal by center Jason Spezza, who scored from the left corner behind his own goal. The puck struck Price’s right leg and trickled behind him, as the storyline continues to build around his sportsbook reviews struggles.

The Canadiens did little in the offseason to improve their team from last year, expecting that this group has the talent to get back to the conference finals, and perhaps even exceed those expectations over the coming years. The biggest question mark surrounding the club remains Price, who is the last man standing after Halak was traded. The pressure is on, and will continue to grow as Price steps back in to the net tonight for the Canadiens for his second home start, as the Habs battle the Panthers in a bigger storyline than NFL betting could provide for those in Quebec.

NBA Betting – Is ‘Melo Really Worth The Hassle?

While NFL betting is taking most of the spotlight right now, the NBA will be getting their preseason underway in the next couple of weeks. The big story in the league right now after one of the biggest (if not, the biggest) offseasons in the history of the NBA is the Carmelo Anthony saga, and many are wondering if he’ll be in Denver when the season tips off. We’re thinking he won’t, but how much are teams willing to give up for one of the more talented headcases in the NBA?

There’s no doubting Anthony’s talent. He’s arguably the best pure scorer in the NBA (although Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant may have something to say about that), but that’s the thing: he doesn’t offer much else outside of that. Anthony has averaged 6.2 rebounds throughout his career, but at 6’8”, that should be a no-brainer. He’s not the greatest (or most willing) passer in the world, and he’ll never be considered for the All-Defense team, although he did get better in both respects when Chauncey Billups joined the Nuggets. The biggest thing about Anthony is that he’s not a leader, and that’s what you’re looking for if you’re going to pay someone what Anthony is looking for. Soccer betting players, for example, would never see Anthony as a guy who would take the armband. Anthony is more of a guy who likes to do things his own way, at his own pace, and he’s definitely prone to the occasional sulk.

So, will he be in Denver when the season starts? It’s not likely, not if Denver wants to keep an already-shaky locker room from exploding. Anthony says he wants to go to New York or Chicago, but it’s also a matter of what the Nuggets can get for him. The Bulls reportedly offered Joakim Noah, which Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen would be a mistake, and while it would improve the Bulls’ shady offense, it would also rob them of their best defender. The Knicks don’t have much to offer outside of Danilo Gallinari and Eddy Curry’s expiring contract, even though that’s the place that Anthony seems to want to go the most. New Jersey is apparently offering first-round pick Derrick Favors, but Anthony would have to sign an extension there as he’s a free agent at the end of the year, and we doubt he wants to go to New Jersey.

This is a tougher call to make than most NFL predictions: it’s not a matter of if Anthony will be traded, it’s a matter of where, and the Nuggets would do well to get something for him before they’re left holding an empty bag, much like Cleveland and Toronto were this summer. Betting odds probably won’t be sorted out until this situation is.

Pivotal Division Match Ups Headline This Week In Baseball

The leaves on the Autumn trees are turning different shades of reds and orange, yellow and purple, and with the arrival of the fall season, three of the six Major League Baseball division races are hardly closer to being determined now than they were when the season started. In the American League, the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers have ten and nine-game bumpers between them and the Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics respectively. The St. Louis Cardinals are a little closer to the Cincinnati Reds in the National League Central, but not much as they still trail the division leader by six betting games. The other three divisions are a lot closer however, as the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants lead the Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres respectively by three games or less, with the Rays and Padres less than a game back.

Little changed over the MLB Betting weekend despite all six teams being in action. The Yankees and Rays both lost Sunday to stay where they were, with New York leading by one-half a game. The Braves doubled up on the Mets 6-3 Sunday night, but the Phillies answered with a 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals, their seventh straight win in the month of September. The biggest difference in the three tight division races came later on in the night when the Giants beat the Milwaukee Brewers 9-2, while the Padres couldn’t overcome a tough test in the St. Louis Cardinals, falling 4-1. San Diego, San Francisco, New York and Tampa Bay have all played around .500 over the past couple of weeks, while the Phillies are red hot in September, going 9-1 over their past ten games. Few could have projected Philadelphia coming back to break ahead of the Braves so late in the year, but that is the case as the baseball betting hottest team in baseball has continued its tear.

Looking ahead to this week, the division races could very well be determined as the Yankees open a four-game set at home against the Rays, while the Phillies entertain the Braves for a three-game set. The Padres and Giants have the sports betting night off Monday, but are back in action Tuesday, taking on the Dodgers and Cubs respectively, both games on the road. The real action will be between the first two series’, as there will be no excuses in determining who the better team is this late in the season. The loser of the Rays-Yankees series will only be forfeiting home field advantage, as Tampa Bay and New York are so far ahead of the rest of the American League, that the loser is all but guaranteed the AL Wild Card spot. The same can be said about the Braves and Phillies, as Atlanta is the current NL Wild Card leader, three games ahead of San Diego. After 150 games there is no clear favorite to pull ahead in these divisions, but this week will go a long way in determining who will come out on top.

Lack Of Parity Will Lead To Losses For NBA

The National Basketball Association will emerge from the summer of 2010 with the burden of one of the most impactful free agent seasons in the history of online sports betting. With the bulk of the focus playing on the betting on NFL season getting underway, people have already put to memory the events that occurred this season, but with training camp on the horizon and the season set to begin next month, the reminder of what happened this summer could soon hit the league with a strange twist of irony.

Many around the association felt that this summer would be beneficial for the NBA and their fans, with the ability for the biggest superstars to spread their talents to new locations potentially leading to new rivalries, and a new direction for the league. The US sportsbook reviews problem with what went down however is that the majority of the talent that was available went in the same direction, turning their back on the franchises most starved for superstars, and joined forces with the teams around the league that are already expected to be contenders. Of the top five free agents available on the market, all but one signed on with teams already expected to be contenders, and that doesn’t include Paul Pierce, who decided to resign with the Boston Celtics. Dwayne Wade also stayed with his team, but managed to bring along with him fellow superstars Lebron James and Chris Bosh. The other big name out there, Amare Stoudamire, signed with the New York Knicks, but is better suited for a complementary role rather than having the spotlight to his self, and has struggled with major injury concerns in the past.

Of the free agents that left their old teams, James and Bosh hurt the most, and for obvious reasons. After years of terrible football and basketball, the only team that could be considered contenders to make noise in their spot on an annual basis was the Cleveland Indians, who made a couple of solid playoff runs. Upon James’ arrival that changed, with the King leading the Cavaliers to Eastern conference finals and even an NBA Championship series. While Bosh didn’t have the same impact on Toronto, he was still the face of the franchise, and with the Maple Leafs of the NHL and the Blue Jays of the MLB both struggling, he may very well have been considered Toronto’s most prominent current sports betting athlete.

With Toronto and Cleveland getting worse, and Miami, Boston, and Chicago getting better, the Eastern conference became even more lopsided than it was the previous year. That lack of parity could very well lead to a lack of fan interest from a variety of cities, if fans feel that they have no reason to because their team isn’t competitive. That problem already exists in some of the other NBA markets such as New Jersey and New Orleans, and if players continue to trend this way over the next couple of free agent periods, it could become worse for the association.

Division Races Enter Stretch Run Of MLB Season

Entering the third week of September NFL betting is already underway, but still three of the six Major League Baseball division leaders are less than one game ahead of the current runner up, with some crucial MLB betting match ups scheduled for this week. The New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Diego Padres lead the AL East, NL East, and NL West respectively, but that could change with every passing day this week. The Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves, and San Francisco Giants are all within one game of the current leaders, with the Giants tied for first with the Padres, as only their division records determining who would get in if the season ended today.

Undoubtedly the biggest match up of the week will feature the Rays traveling to the Bronx to take on the Yankees, a series that will not only determine who takes the division lead at week’s end, but who will climb in to position as the AL Wild Card leader. The Rays are currently just one half game back of New York for top spot, but hold a six-and-a-half-game lead over the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox for the Wild Card spot. These teams will meet again next week for another series, and the seven games they will play in the next two weeks will play an integral part in who comes out on top in the toughest sports betting division in baseball.

In the National League, the San Diego Padres have conceded a double-digit lead over the San Francisco Giants in the NL West division standings, and are not tied for top spot. The Giants took three of four from the Padres this past weekend to put a stamp on their comeback, and will now return home for back-to-back series’ at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers. Unlike San Francisco, the schedule will not be as kind to the Padres, who now head to the road for 11 straight away from home. San Diego will play the Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Cardinals, and Dodgers in that order, and may answer questions for the baseball betting skeptics who felt they would eventually choke.

The Phillies have taken a half game lead on the Braves for top spot in the NL East, despite Atlanta earning an NL-best plus-123 run differential, 40 scores higher than Philadelphia. The Phillies are on the road to take on the Florida Marlins before returning home to take on the Washington Nationals this weekend, while the Braves entertain the Nationals before heading to New York to battle the Mets. After six games Philadelphia will welcome Atlanta to Citizens Bank Field, and if the standings are as close then as they are now, that series could very well determine who takes top spot. What makes the NL races that much more intriguing is that the two teams that don’t win the aforementioned battles will likely compete for the NL Wild Card spot.

Lakers Still The Top Dog In The NBA

After the most highly anticipated offseason in NBA sports betting history, the dust has settled, and the results are the same at the top. The Los Angeles Lakers are still the best team in the league. Several teams went all in on the trio of Lebron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade, hoping to acquire at least one of those talents for the chance to turn around their struggling franchises. But none of the three were about rebuilding, not this time around. James had spent seven years with the Cleveland Cavaliers trying to turn around a struggling franchise, and although he did make the NBA finals once, the King failed to bring the city the championship he had promised to deliver. Bosh was the key cog on a Raptors team that failed to surround him with enough talent to consistently compete in the Eastern conference, as Toronto repeatedly missed the playoffs during his time with the club. Wade was the only one of the three to have won a ring, and he knew that in order to get back to the top, he was going to need some help. So, he called some friends.

James, Bosh, and Wade all signed with the Heat, who also inked Lebron’s friend and former teammate with the Cavaliers, center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Mike Miller was retained at the guard spot, as Miami tried to find the best way to spread around the remaining cap space. The big three represented a solid core that was unrivalled in the league, but the problem presents itself when considering that the Heat may not have enough secondary pieces to complete the betting puzzle entirely. Unlike the Lakers, the Heat’s bench situation is uncertain. Who is their Lamar Odom to give them a spark off the bench? Who is their Jordan Farmar?

While the Heat went all-in on their big three, the defending NBA champion Lakers added key pieces to the core, expanding their roster rather than establishing a foundation. Los Angeles already has its foundation, his name is Kobe Bryant. With Bryant and Pau Gasol leading the way under head coach Phil Jackson, the chances at a third straight title seem very good. Not only are the Lakers built with talent, they are also built with the chemistry that is constructed by championship runs on an annual basis, and the franchise has done an excellent job of providing Bryant with not only top-tier talent, but the type of support that is the perfect complement to his playing style, similar to teams in MLB betting.

The Heat made some huge moves this offseason, and will undoubtedly be a better team. But while they are expected to improve tremendously, they are still not the favorites for an NBA title. An argument can be made that they may not even be the best team in the Eastern conference with both the Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics loaded with talent and depth as well, but what remains unchanged as the focus shifts to the NFL betting season is that the Lakers are still the best in the NBA.
