Heat Open Season Without Much of a Spark

After one of the most exciting offseasons in sports betting history, the Miami Heat opened their 2010 NBA season with little more than an average performance Tuesday night. The Heat fell to the Boston Celtics 88-80 on the road in their first regular season game since acquiring both Lebron James and Chris Bosh this past summer, with both players failing to meet the lofty expectations that were set for them when they signed with Miami. The Celtics’ crowd came alive with chants of “overrated”, showering the NBA betting Eastern conference favorites with boos and jeers.

While James managed to put up 31 points, he also turned the ball over eight times, tying Allen Iverson’s record for most games with at least 30 points and seven turnovers. James didn’t get much help from his new teammates, with superstar Dwayne Wade managing just 13 points on 4-of-16 shooting, and Bosh scoring just eight points with eight rebounds. With the amount of money committed to the Heat’s trio, it will be impossible for Miami to win games this season without more production from both Wade and Bosh. Still, an eight-point loss in a game that was within one basket up until the final two minutes against the defending Eastern conference champions is not exactly a terrible thing.

After all, the Celtics’ big three was dominant themselves, with Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce each contributing clutch shots. Allen’s three-pointer with time running out late in the fourth quarter gave Boston the six-point lead, and marked the end of the Heat’s night as they would not score another point after that dagger. Allen and company gave their opposition props after the Northbet review game, and commented themselves on how it took time after them three were united for the Celtics to get on track, acknowledging that Miami would likely need to go through their own growing pains before they can compete at the highest level.

The Heat will have to regroup in a hurry, as unlike NFL betting there is no rest in the NBA. Miami is right back in action Wednesday night on the road in Philadelphia to take on the Sixers, and will be looking for a much more complete effort. The Sixers are nowhere near close the Celtics in terms of talent level, and that should make it easier for the Heat to get their first win. It will take time before their team is ready to compete with the best in the association, and it may be 82 games before they develop the comfort and familiarity to challenge a team such as Boston or the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers. While it is unfair to look to far in to the initial defeat, the table was already set for the national sportsbook reviews media to take their shots at the team after the way in which their superstars assembled this summer. Miami opened the season without much spark, but should heat up in a hurry.
