Pivotal Division Match Ups Headline This Week In Baseball

The leaves on the Autumn trees are turning different shades of reds and orange, yellow and purple, and with the arrival of the fall season, three of the six Major League Baseball division races are hardly closer to being determined now than they were when the season started. In the American League, the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers have ten and nine-game bumpers between them and the Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics respectively. The St. Louis Cardinals are a little closer to the Cincinnati Reds in the National League Central, but not much as they still trail the division leader by six betting games. The other three divisions are a lot closer however, as the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants lead the Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres respectively by three games or less, with the Rays and Padres less than a game back.

Little changed over the MLB Betting weekend despite all six teams being in action. The Yankees and Rays both lost Sunday to stay where they were, with New York leading by one-half a game. The Braves doubled up on the Mets 6-3 Sunday night, but the Phillies answered with a 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals, their seventh straight win in the month of September. The biggest difference in the three tight division races came later on in the night when the Giants beat the Milwaukee Brewers 9-2, while the Padres couldn’t overcome a tough test in the St. Louis Cardinals, falling 4-1. San Diego, San Francisco, New York and Tampa Bay have all played around .500 over the past couple of weeks, while the Phillies are red hot in September, going 9-1 over their past ten games. Few could have projected Philadelphia coming back to break ahead of the Braves so late in the year, but that is the case as the baseball betting hottest team in baseball has continued its tear.

Looking ahead to this week, the division races could very well be determined as the Yankees open a four-game set at home against the Rays, while the Phillies entertain the Braves for a three-game set. The Padres and Giants have the sports betting night off Monday, but are back in action Tuesday, taking on the Dodgers and Cubs respectively, both games on the road. The real action will be between the first two series’, as there will be no excuses in determining who the better team is this late in the season. The loser of the Rays-Yankees series will only be forfeiting home field advantage, as Tampa Bay and New York are so far ahead of the rest of the American League, that the loser is all but guaranteed the AL Wild Card spot. The same can be said about the Braves and Phillies, as Atlanta is the current NL Wild Card leader, three games ahead of San Diego. After 150 games there is no clear favorite to pull ahead in these divisions, but this week will go a long way in determining who will come out on top.
